In 2019, the 148th edition of The Open (colloquially known as the British Open) is heading to Northern Ireland, where Royal Portrush Golf Club will play host to the world’s oldest Golf Major. This is a hallmark occasion as the second time The Open will be contested outside England and Scotland. The last tournament to do so was in 1951, when Max Falkner won at Royal Portrush, the only other time The Open has been held offshore. The 2019 Open Championship will be a monumental event with thousands of fans coming from around the globe to visit Northern Ireland and enjoy one of sports most prestigious and respected events.
Royal Portrush was founded in 1888 and has been the site of many Amateur Championships, Irish Opens and other Championship events. The Club features two courses, both designed by Harry Colt and widely considered his best work. The 148th Open will be held on Dunluce Links, voted the 12th best course in the world by Golf Magazine. This masterpiece links course features unimaginable roughs, testing greens, unpredictable weather, spectacular holes and daring doglegs. The field for all Open Championships is filled through regional and final qualifying tournaments and exemptions to Tour Pro’s who meet around 30 criteria, determined by R&A. 156 competitors will play 36 holes of stroke play on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 July. The leading 70 players and ties will play a further 36 holes on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July.
The champion will be the player with the lowest 72 hole aggregate. In the event of a tie, the players will play a four hole play-off.
The champion will be the player with the lowest four hole aggregate. If there is still a tie, play will continue over the 18th until a winner emerges. The presentation ceremony will be held immediately after the conclusion of play.
Transfers to The Open
Transfer times have not been finalised, but it is expected to follow:
- Depart Belfast hotels at 8:30 am daily
- Depart Royal Portrush at 6:30 pm daily (Sunday, 30 minutes after play concludes)
Appropriate signage and staff will be available to direct you throughout the tournament.
Travel time is expected to be 70-90 minutes.

What ticket types are available?
For most packages we offer General Admission Tickets as an Authorised Provider of The 14th Open. We do have Official Hospitality if you would like access to corporate marquees, balconies and syndicated venues at The Open.
For General Admission guests, you will have access to all holes at the course and can walk around following your favourite pairings at your leisure. There will be some grandstands with unreserved seating around the course.
Can I purchase The Open tickets by themselves?
No, we are only licensed to sell Official Packages as an Authorised Partner. We do not sell ticket only. We can sell Hospitality Packages individually without accommodation, however accommodation will be hard to find in Belfast so we recommend taking a complete package inclusive of hotels, transport and other services.
Can you book flights for me?
We are an IATA Travel Agent and have access to the best flights available to the UK with extensions and stop-overs available around the world, ask us for a quote with your package.
What are the transfer timings?
For packages including transfers, our coaches are expected to depart hotels at 0830 daily and depart The Open at 1830 daily, possibly later on Sunday to allow for presentations. The transfer time is expected to take 75-90 minutes.

Can I add or subtract extra days at The Open to my package?
Yes, we can be flexible by adding extra days and nights to your package to make it the way you want. For some Packages we can change the ticketing days to suit your needs. Ask us for a quote.

For all bookings we require a deposit to confirm and a balance payment. Upgrades and extra services subject to varying payment requirements.

We accept bank transfer and credit card payments. Credit card payments incur a 1.98% fee.
Travel Documents and Tickets
Travel documents (including event tickets, flight tickets, hotel vouchers and other applicable items) are sent at least two weeks prior to the event start date by email, courier or registered post. In special circumstances, tickets may be made available via an official ticket collection centre or hotel drop-off. Finalised information will be provided with your travel documents.
