Overview

Be there as The Open Championship returns to Royal Liverpool at Hoylake for the first time since 2014.

Rory McIlroy was the last pro to lift the Claret Jug here after going wire-to-wire to win the Championship by two strokes over Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia in 2014. In doing so, he became only the third golfer from Northern Ireland to win a Championship. And back in 2006, Tiger Woods stunned over 230,000 fans to lift the Claret Jug for the third time in his illustrious career.

Hoylake has produced some of The Open’s most thrilling performances over the 13 Championships to have been held here. The Open shares a strong affinity with England’s Golf Coast, where famous links courses test the world’s best golfers, producing exciting and memorable spectating for fans from around the world.

Built in 1869, Hoylake is England’s second oldest golf course, created to be a demanding test of golf. The course is flat, exposed to coastal winds and features shifting dunes and narrow isolated greens. Golfers must control their distance and shoot for accuracy to be successful at one of England’s toughest courses.

Hoylake presents a brilliant opportunity to explore England and the United Kingdom. Located in the northwestern corner of the Wirral Peninsula, Hoylake is a quintessentially British town with quaint tea rooms, charming antique stores and rustic art galleries. Intrepid travellers should road trip to Seacombe or explore Liverpool, the original home of The Beatles and now a hip-urban centre with museums, bars and music venues to enjoy.

Having been a proud Authorised Provider of The Open Championship since 2018 at Royal Portrush, you can trust us to create a memorable experience for you to The 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool in 2023. We are currently selling packages to The 149th Open at Royal St George’s in 2021 and The 150th Open at St Andrews in 2022. Liverpool, in England’s northwest, is famous for being the home of The Beatles and the Liverpool Football Club. The old port town was once Britains second-most important city, with a very rough-around-the-edges image. In recent times, an urban regeneration has transformed the city into one of the most pleasant in northern England. Locals have welcomed the new hip attitude, which has made the city into a hub of live music, craft pubs, gourmet eats, art museums and cultural attractions. Located on the River Mersey, the city still revolves around its maritime past and the Royal Albert Dock is worth being the focal point of your stay. Liverpool has a lot to offer and is a stepping stone to explore the history and beauty of northern England; with plenty of quality golf on offer!
