About

The Melbourne Cricket Club and Events Travel invite members and partners to join an unforgettable journey to The 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush, Northern Ireland, in 2025.

From 15 July to 7 August 2025 (20 nights), experience golf’s oldest major, hosted for only the third time outside mainland Great Britain, at the stunning Royal Portrush on the Causeway Coast. Stay in downtown Belfast during Open Week to witness the world’s best golfers compete for the elusive Claret Jug. While in Belfast, explore the city’s rich history and must-see attractions, including the famous Titanic Belfast museum. Enjoy a Saturday evening function with fellow attendees, daily breakfast, and sightseeing opportunities, including options for those not wanting to attend the golf.

After The Open, the tour continues across the Emerald Isle, visiting the Wild Atlantic Way, Galway, Killarney, Cork, and Dublin. Discover ancient history, stunning landscapes, and Ireland’s unique culture, with fine food, wine, and warm hospitality. The journey concludes in London, with a stay in prestigious Mayfair, sightseeing, and a tour of Lord’s Cricket Ground.

As Australia’s exclusive Authorised Provider for The Open, all guests enjoy guaranteed access to official tickets and hospitality.

    Not attending The Open

For members not wishing to attend The Open as part of the MCC Member’s Tour, or wanting to reduce the number of days attending, we can remove tickets with a price reduction of ticket face value, so you can explore the sights in and around Belfast instead on those spare days.

    Play golf options

The main MCC Member’s Tour is not a play golf tour, however if you are interested in playing golf prior to The Open and/or during Open Week, there are options available to break off from the main tour and rejoin after The Open on Monday 21 July before the tour continues around Northern Ireland and Ireland. These play golf options are provided by our sister company, Voyages.Golf, to be booked through Events Travel as an option to the main tour. Contact us to see these options.

  • Good to know

    • Most grandstands are unreserved, allowing patrons to come and go as they please throughout the day and are unable to be reserved or held. Generally on Sunday, unreserved grandstands fill up in the morning, particularly on the 18th green, so we recommend arriving early for a good seat on the final day. Or you can enjoy the action from around the course with plenty of vantage points and viewing areas as you follow your favourite players and groups.
    • The Open Shop is very popular, we recommend buying merchandise on the first day you attend, so you can be sure to get your preferred sizes. Some sizes will sell out come Sunday.
    • The travel time to Royal Portrush is approximately than 70 minutes via coach. On the return journey after presentation on Sunday it will likely be around 80-90 minutes, traffic dependant. We will speak to the hotels to keep the respective kitchens open and prepared for your return on Sunday.
    • Coach transport to/from The Open 2025 from our featured hotels in Belfast will be scheduled for the morning and return in the late afternoon/early evening at a sensible time to please as many people as possible. On some days it may not be possible to arrive prior to the first groups teeing off or the last groups finishing as it’s generally very early/late. Due to the distance from Belfast to Royal Portrush (~70 mins drive), we only have one coach departing each hotel. On the final day coaches will depart 30 minutes after presentation, as that is an important moment for the weekend and not to be missed.
    • All packages include an official Open Championship 2025 souvenir cap which will be provided onsite at your hotel. Additionally, fans will also receive a discount code to pre-purchase select merchandise from The Open Shop. Details will be sent closer to the event when the shop is ready and you can get your order sent directly to your shipping address before departure.

Frequently asked questions

Are tickets to The Open included in the tour?

Yes, tickets are included. As Australia’s exclusive Authorised Provider for The Open Championship, all guests on the MCC Member’s Tour have full access to tickets for all days of the tournament and do not need to enter the ticket ballot to purchase tickets as they are guaranteed through Events Travel. This also includes practice days, if arriving early, to be sold at face value in GBP or AUD.

Yes, MCC Members and partners are welcome to join the tour, partners do not have to be a member of any type.

Yes, you are welcome to book your own flights to start/finish this MCC Member’s Tour and a price reduction of -$2,600 per person will apply.

Please note: If you change your arrival or departure flight, you may not be able to use the group airport transfer if you arrive at a different time.

Yes you can. We can adjust the included group flights on the return leg only, allowing you to extend your stay in Europe or do a stop-over on the way home. You will be quoted a fare/tax difference to change your return flight. Note you cannot change the outbound flight from Australia and then get the return group flight, you can only change the return leg. You can remove the flights (-$2,600 pp) and book new flights or use Frequent Flyer Points if you want to depart earlier.

Upgrade to Premium Economy or Business Class on request, subject to availability. Or change your return flight to allow for more travel throughout the UK or Europe, or stop-overs in Dubai, Doha, Singapore or other destinations.

Yes, tickets can be removed for any guest and a price reduction of ticket face value would apply in AUD.

Most grandstands at The Open are unreserved, meaning anyone with a General Admission Ticket can sit in any grandstand except for a select few available to One Club Members and to specific hospitality suites. Generally the unreserved grandstands have decent turnover as patrons come and go throughout the day.

Yes, we have upgrades to Scorers Hospitality and Caddies Hospitality for each day of the tournament in limited numbers, please see details and prices above.

This is not a play golf tour, it’s a spectators tour for golf enthusiasts and travellers wanting to explore Northern Ireland, Ireland and London with a small group of MCC Members. While there is a focus on attending The 153rd Open, there are no rounds of golf during the main MCC Member’s Tour. If you do want to play golf, we have options available before or during Open Week, please see more details above for those options or speak to our team. If swapping to a play golf option you will meet the main MCC Member’s Tour on Monday 21 July after The Open finishes, so please keep that in mind and you may be at a different hotel in Belfast.

This tour is available to book now and has limited capacity and will not be repeated.

The main MCC Member’s Tour has one departure starting 16 July in Dublin/Belfast and finishing 5 August in London. If those dates do not meet your needs, speak to our team about alternative options, we may be able to accommodate a later arrival or earlier departure and assist you with managing that. Or we do have other tours and packages to The Open for the general public, not private to the MCC.

We recommend all guests have moderate fitness and are able to walk medium distances unassisted. At The Open the course is hilly, grassy and subject to weather, so please ensure you can comfortably walk around a golf course at minimum. Additionally, attractions, historic cities, towns and villages have narrow paths, steps and uneven surfaces with no hand rails. If you have specific accessibility requirements please speak to our team to ensure we can accommodate.
