Ensuring you are in the very best company!
South Africa’s luxurious Rovos Rail offers you a chance to recapture the romance and atmosphere of a bygone era as you step aboard the reconditioned wood-panelled coaches and enjoy fine cuisine in 5-star luxury. Call your Deluxe Suite home for 5 nights while enjoying golf at the finest courses in South Africa. The adventure continues when you step off the train and fly down to the Eastern Cape to a Safari through the exciting Kariega Game Reserve. Enjoy evening and morning game drives in search of the Big Five; Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant. After two nights in the African bush; the Links at St. Francis is your next golfing challenge. The complete golf experience would not be possible without a stay at Fancourt Golf Resort with its three on-site championship golf courses including the The Links. Located on the spectacular Garden Route, Fancourt is renowned for its Spa, food and outstanding courses.
Next we travel to the Western Cape staying at the Arabella Golf & Spa Resort overlooking the Bot River Lagoon. The championship course here has the best finishing holes in the country (on both nines). Your final stop is none other than the sensational Table Bay Hotel; but not before a winelands discovery tour including a visit to Ernie Els Wine Farm after a magnificent lunch near Stellenbosch. Set in the heart of the V&A Waterfront, the Table Bay Hotel offers everything you will expect from a 5-star luxury hotel.
Besides golf at Royal Cape and Pearl Valley; your holiday will be completed with a full day Peninsula Tour and Cable Car ride to the summit of picturesque Table Mountain in Cape Town. Non-golfer? Do not fear as we have a fully inclusive program with exciting activities and tours; more details on request. To complete this unique expedition is our farewell dinner in Cape Town with celebratory food and wine pairings from the Continent at Gold Restaurant (you’ll love the 14 course Cape Malay and African Tasting Safari — Bon Appetit!)

The Extreme 19th is an experience that will live with you forever. Board a helicopter armed with your driver and fly to the top of Hanglip Mountain where you will have the opportunity to hit six golf balls to a green shaped like Africa. Once everyone has hit their 6 balls you will be flown to the green to complete the hole and have your score registered on the leader-board and receive your certificate. Good luck!

Many famous golfers have graced these fairways and you can savour the atmosphere particularly walking up to the finishing holes. The best golf is saved for the last day of the rail portion of the tour. This magnificent Gary Player design borders the Kruger National Park and it’s not uncommon to see Elephant, Buffalo and Lion coming down to drink at the Crocodile River which separates the golf course from the Park. Wild animals aside this golf course is a special layout that will have golfers of all abilities enjoying its fantastic design and immaculate conditioning.

The incredible train journey ends today as the train returns to Capital Park Station in Pretoria. Travel time to the Reserve is around 90 minutes from the Airport. A light lunch will be provided on arrival.
The group will be split into three different lodges – Settlers Drift, Ukhozi and River Lodges (see booking early). After checking into your room with time to freshen up a ranger will guide you to open aired vehicles for a game drive into the reserve. Enjoy an evening sundowner in the bush as you search for the Big Five. Return to the Lodge for dinner before retiring and a well-earned rest.
Wed 7th Feb / Kariega Game Reserve

Your rangers will wake you early with a hot tea or coffee to take you on a morning game drive (optional). Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast with the rest of the day at leisure to relax and absorb your surroundings. You can enjoy spa treatments, a game walk or simply relax by the pool. Lunch will be served around midday and high tea is followed by the last opportunity to view the Big Five on an evening game drive before dinner.
Thu 8th Feb / Fancourt via St. Francis Links
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Today is our longest with an early departure for a 2.5 hr. drive to St. Francis Links near famous Jeffrey’s Bay “J-Bay” famous for its surfing. Hoping for a calm wind-free day the course is a fine example of links style golf. It it’s windy then why not play and enjoy the late lunch afterwards! Depart the Clubhouse travelling along the Garden Route towards George winding through the high treed forests, coast lines and gorges before checking in to the stunning Fancourt Golf Resort. This evening we enjoy dinner at La Cantina.
Fri 9th Feb / Fancourt Montagu Course
(Breakfast, HH, Dinner)
Get ready for a morning of fabulous golf on Fancourts challenging Montagu Course. Another Gary Player design (as are all 3 here), the Montagu is regarded as one of the best parkland courses in the country. It always features in the Top 10. You will use every club in your bag around this magnificent layout. Your stay at Fancourt includes a Spa Voucher to the value of R500 to be used this afternoon or before the next round.
Sat 10th Feb / Fancourt The Links Course
(Breakfast, HH, Dinner)
Once an old airport and runway the Links Course has transformed this barren landscape. South Africa’s #1 golf course has played host to The Presidents Cup as well as numerous South African Opens and other PGA Events. This is not a golf course you are going to shoot your best score on but it’s a course you will thoroughly enjoy and give you everlasting memories. Enjoy the walk and marvel at how this Gary Player masterpiece was built. This evening we bid farewell to Fancourt with a South African Braai (BBQ) at The Links Clubhouse.
Sun 11th Feb / The Western Cape; Hermanus & Arabella
After breakfast depart for the seaside town of Hermanus (3.5hrs approx.) This coastal town offers some of the world’s best whale watching. Unfortunately, they are not due in the bay until early June but the walk along the cliffs is spectacular. Free time is allocated for lunch in one of the seaside fish café’s. A short drive from Hermanus is the Arabella Resort overlooking the Bot River Lagoon. This prestigious gated residential community is world class as is the Arabella Golf & Spa Resort.
Mon 12th Feb / Arabella Golf
Having hosted both the Nelson Mandela and Gary Player Invitationals this is a fantastic golf course with the wind direction determining the degree of difficulty. The finishing holes on both nines are as good as any finishing holes anywhere. Big hitters can be bold on the Par four 9th off the tee but anything left will find a watery grave! Lunch is at your leisure today at the golf club.
This evening we provide an included tour dinner at the hotel.
Tue 13th Feb / Winelands & Cape Town
After breakfast check out of your room and depart on a winelands discovery tour in the Stellenbosch Region. Wed 14th Feb / Royal Cape Golf Course
The oldest golf course in South Africa, Royal Cape Course, has played host to numerous South African Opens and is the current home to the Cape Town Open. A traditional parklands golf course, the course requires good shot making and is always in great condition. After golf a cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain is on the cards. This flat topped mountain offers fantastic views across the city and over the bay to Robben Island. There are multiple options for dinner in the V&A Waterfront precinct.
Thu 15th Feb / Cape Peninsula Tour – Full Day Tour
We take a break from golf to enjoy a full day touring departing around 09.00. Hug the coastline via Sea Point and Clifton (the most expensive real estate in South Africa) with its pure white sandy beaches and rolling Atlantic Ocean. Hout Bay is a cosy hamlet surrounded by mountains. Chapmans Peak gives magnificent views of the Cape Peninsula where you will ultimately feel you are on the edge of the world. On the return leg we travel via Simons Town with False Bay on the horizon then Fish Hook ending up for the last stop at the Kirstenbosch National Botanic Gardens, one of the world’s greatest. Dinner is at your leisure in Cape Town.
Fri 16th Feb / Pearl Valley Golf Course: Franschhoek Valley
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
We need an early start today for a huge day out! A Jack Nicklaus design, Pearl Valley Golf Course requires good bunker play or the ability to stay out of them! This is a wonderful layout in the Franschhoek valley and will test all golfers. After some time to freshen up dinner is included at Gold Restaurant where we will impart with more Golf Awards before heading back to the hotel for a tour farewell nightcap!
