Hong Kong Sevens 2020
Join us for our 26th Hong Kong Sevens in Asia’s World City!
This years Hong Kong Sevens has moved to 16-18 October 2020, making it now the final leg of the HSBC World Sevens Series. Additionally, it will take place after Tokyo 2020, which means you’ll see the Olympic Champions in action, as well as the crowning of the new World Champions! The rescheduling also means the Hong Kong Sevens will take place the weekend after the Singapore Sevens—combining both events would be the ultimate Rugby Sevens trip and something we can make happen for you!
The Hong Kong Sevens is the world’s biggest Rugby Sevens festival and one of our favourite annual events. The action takes place at Hong Kong Stadium, jammed between skyscrapers and lush mountains on Hong Kong Island. Over the weekend, 120,000 energetic fans from around the world make the pilgrimage to enjoy the festivities while making the atmosphere energetic, lively, and truly unique to the Hong Kong Sevens.
At the Hong Kong Sevens, the rugby is fast-paced and high scoring with quick turnovers with short matches (7-minute halves) and three days of matches back-to-back. If you’re a newcomer, the South Stand has a strong reputation as the most ‘energetic’, with dress ups, sing alongs and antics providing entertainment for those within and those looking on. Dress ups are encouraged for all! The Sevens is known for entertainment, with music being played in between matches making the crowd go wild! Throw in huge performances from the likes of Madness, The Village People, Gwen Stefani and The Beach Boys, and the Hong Kong Sevens stands apart from your usual sporting event.
Rugby aside, Hong Kong is Asia’s World City and is culturally diverse with a rich colonial past which is on display throughout the cities modern galleries and museums. Hong Kong is one of the world’s finance and business hubs and is becoming recognised as the leading shopping and food destination in Asia. We love Hong Kong for its entertainment value; with pubs, clubs and restaurants on Hong Kong Island coming alive during the Sevens. Visitors will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere throughout the city, as locals welcome visitors from around the world.
Hong Kong is a fantastic destination for sightseeing. The dramatic landscape features sprawling buildings and lush green spaces (over 70% of Hong Kong is jungle!) with the stunning Victoria Harbour separating Kowloon and Hong Kong Island. Travellers will enjoy world-class shopping, dining and nightlife; with more intrepid travellers able to explore hidden scenic hikes, beautiful beaches, markets and an amazing food scene—including the world’s cheapest Michelin star restaurant in North Point.
As an Official Travel Agent, we can help you get to the Hong Kong Sevens with our Official Packages including Tickets, Hospitality, accommodation and other travel services (flights, transport and sightseeing). We have hand-chosen our hotels on Hong Kong Island for convenience, comfort and quality from budget all the way to the best 5-star luxury hotels available using our 26-years of experience helping fans enjoy this fantastic event.
We hope you’ll join us for the next edition of the Hong Kong Sevens in 2020!

How do I make a booking?
Speak to a Travel Expert to start your journey.
What ticket types are available with your Hong Kong Sevens Packages?
We have Official Tickets from all categories including; General Admission (most popular), Reserved Seats (limited) and Hospitality Packages (very limited).
Most of Hong Kong Stadium is free seating and accessible with a General Admission ticket, including the South Stand. If you have a large group and all want to sit together, we recommend opting for a Reserved Seat or if you are entertaining and want a premium experience, opt for a Hospitality Package.
How else can I buy a Hong Kong Sevens Ticket?
The Hong Kong Sevens sells tickets via a ballot system to local residents and local rugby clubs.
If you are a resident of Hong Kong, you can enter the ticket ballot to try and get an allocation. The Hong Kong Sevens is heavily oversubscribed and sells out via the ballot system each year. For international residents, the only way to secure tickets to the Hong Kong Sevens is with an Official Travel Package from an Official Travel Agent, such as ourselves.
Companies do have an option of purchasing corporate boxes on the Executive Level (we can assist if you’re looking for this).
How do I get a seat in the South Stand?
The South Stand is the most popular stand to enjoy the party atmosphere, dress ups and sing alongs. The South Stand is free seating and once you’re in there, you can roam around to find a seat. Typically Saturday is the busiest day in the South Stand with queues forming very early in the day. Once the South Stand is full, it’s a one-in and one-out policy, which can result in long wait times. To avoid queues, we recommend heading to the stadium early when gates open to guarantee entry and a good spot within the South Stand. If you arrive later in the morning or afternoon, expect to queue to get in and who knows, you might get lucky!
If you want to sit near the South Stand, you can sit within the southern end of the East and West Stands which look over the South Stand and have no queues, but it’s best to arrive early to get a good seat in those stands too.
Can I purchase tickets by themselves?
As an Official Travel Agent, we are licensed to sell tickets within our Travel Packages and do not sell tickets individually. We do sell Hospitality Packages individually to international visitors and Hong Kong residents.
Can my Travel Agent book with you?
Absolutely. We work with registered Travel Agents around the world. You are welcome to refer your Travel Agent to book on your behalf and we can liaise with them directly for you.
Can I choose a different hotel?
Yes, we can provide alternative accommodation to the hotels listed within our packages. We recommend staying on Hong Kong Island around Causeway Bay and Wan Chai which are close to Hong Kong Stadium, or further afield in Central or North Point. We don’t recommend Kowloon, as it’s on the other side of the Harbour and lacks the atmosphere that the sevens brings to Hong Kong Island. However, if Kowloon is your preference, we can provide hotels there for you or alternative options on Hong Kong Island.
Do I need travel insurance?
In short, yes. We recommend travel insurance for every trip, big or small. That’s why we’ve partnered with CHI to offer travel insurance and have included a 15% off base policy discount for Australian residents. Plus, our Travel Experts can help choose the right policy for you. We recommend purchasing a policy at the time of booking to cover the duration of your trip.
Can I change my Hong Kong Sevens Package after booking?
Changes are typically not possible after making a booking, however we do assess changes on a case by case basis, depending on what is involved. Upgrades, extra nights or additions to a package are generally possible, subject to availability. We recommend adding extra nights and upgrades at the time of booking to ensure availability.
Are you an Official Travel Agent?
Events Travel is an Official Travel Agent for the Hong Kong Sevens and helped found the OTA program back in the late 90’s! 2020 will be our 26th Hong Kong Sevens.
Why should I travel with you?
We have been pioneering sports travel around the world since 1993. We have helped tens of thousands of travellers experience many of modern sports most historic moments. Not only are our team extremely experienced, but we are passionate about helping fans get the most from their travel experience, something we hope to do for you.
By choosing us as your travel partner, it means you have access to Official Tickets and are not supporting the secondary or black markets, which is a risky way to enjoy an event. On top of this, we are fully accredited with AFTA, ATAS and other organisations.
Finally, almost three decades of creating unforgettable travel experiences says it all. We look forward to warmly welcoming you to Hong Kong Sevens 2020!
Do you have customer reviews?
Yes. We have partnered with Trustpilot to collect verified third party reviews, the most trusted way to collect real and unfiltered reviews. At the time of writing we have over 200 x 5-star reviews. See reviews.
Do you have Hospitality available?
Yes. Hospitality can be added to any Hong Kong Sevens Package or purchased individually on request. Availability is limited.
What’s the difference between a Package and a Tour?
Packages are designed for independent travellers and are not escorted day-to-day by Events Travel staff. With a package, you’re travelling on your own, but you may see Events Travel staff at formal events, transfers or ticket collection centres (if applicable).
With a Tour, it’s the opposite and you will be escorted throughout your trip by a Tour Manager who is there to manage the group and to make sure everything happens smoothly. All our Tours are designed for small-groups and balance event experiences, destinations and are often themed, for example, golf, gourmet or nature. Tours are a great option to travel with like- minded people. Sit back and relax, knowing everything is taken care of.
Can you book my flights?
Yes. We are an accredited IATA Agency and ticket your flights in-house, giving you access to the best available fares.
I have a corporate group, can you assist us?
Absolutely. We have dedicated Group Travel Experts on hand to take care of your group from start to finish, with all the services you need. Get in touch to start your journey.
I have a group, can you help us?
We provide travel for groups of any size (10, 50 or 100+) and can tailor our packages and services to suit specific groups needs. Get in touch to book a Group Package to Hong Kong Sevens 2020.
What travel services do you offer?
We offer a full range of travel services, such as:
- Custom itineraries
- Group packages
- Travel insurance
When booking, ask us for a quote to add-on additional services to your package.
Can I extend my stay longer than your package dates?
Yes. We have contracted fantastic hotel rates for the event and adjacent dates before or after. Ask us for a quote to add extra nights to any package. We can provide accommodation elsewhere during your trip too.
Please note: Extra nights are subject to availability and are best booked as early as you can. Note that if you book at the same hotel via other means (e.g. a hotel booking site or direct) then you may not receive the same room for the duration of your stay. Ask us for a quote for extra nights when making your booking. Our extra night rates are very competitive.
