Bathurst 1000 is known as The Great Race and is an iconic Aussie event that takes place at Mount Panorama each year in rural New South Wales. Since 1960, the 1000km race has defined Aussie motorsport and has seen its fair share of triumphs, tragedies, and historic moments. The unforgiving circuit traverses Mount Panorama and has been the battleground for teams and drivers for 60 years. The endurance race (161 laps) is always fiercely contended with racing regularly coming down to the last lap on the final day. Each year, thousands of fans make the pilgrimage to Bathurst to experience the current era of Supercars on the traditional stomping ground.

Bathurst is the oldest inland settlement in Australia, located 200 km northwest of Sydney. Though the town has a rich Aboriginal history, it was officially declared a townsite in 1815. Its popularity and growth is thanks to the discovery of gold in Australia in the mid-1800s, and its central location meant it was used as a gateway for exploration and development of the New South Wales region. Now, the region is a large producer of agriculture including vegetables, honey, fruits, forestry, and grapes. Enjoy discovering this historically rich town dating back 40,000 years when it was once Aboriginal land through to the settlement and colonial growth that makes it the town it is today; lined with heritage-listed buildings and colonial mansions.
