Join us at the Party in Paradise and enjoy sun, surf and supercars by day and chart-topping performances by night. The 2021 race will be the first on Surfers Paradise since 2019 and will be the finale of the Supercars Championship — you’ve simply got to be there!

The Gold Coast 500 (traditionally a 600) is one of Queensland’s biggest events. The race takes over the streets and beaches of Surfers Paradise on the sunny Gold Coast each October (December in 2021). It’s only on the Gold Coast where fans can combine a passion for high-octane Supercars with long sandy beaches, blue waters and non-stop entertainment.

The race takes place on one of the toughest circuits on the Supercars calendar. The street circuit winds through the busy Gold Coast skyline with tight corners, a bumpy surface and beachside chicanes demanding the most from drivers. Enjoy the many attractions of the Gold Coast by day before watching the Supercars hit the streets and party into the night. The Gold Coast 500 is renowned for post-race concerts with major international and local acts taking to the trackside stages. Such artists in past years have been the Hilltop Hoods, Lil Jon, The Thundamentals, Cold Chisel, The Living End and many more.

For many years, as an Official Partner of Supercars, we’ve been helping fans travel from around Australia and New Zealand to the Gold Coast to watch the action live. Our Official Gold Coast 500 Packages include official tickets, grandstand upgrades, hospitality packages and hand-selected hotels with other optional travel services including flights, transport, sightseeing and more available. To really treat yourself for your race weekend choose an elevated grandstand or premium hospitality package, the latter offering fantastic track views, gourmet food, drinks and hosted service. Many of the grandstand seating options have beach and ocean backdrops, making for a scenic viewing experience.

No matter what style of traveller you are or what you’re looking for, our Travel Experts can create a customised package with services to meet your needs. Whether you’re getting away with friends, family or treating someone to a special occasion, the Gold Coast 500 will offer a fantastic travel experience and we look forward to making that happen in 2021.

Join us as the Party in Paradise.

Surfers Paradise Street Circuit

First appearing on the Australian motorsport calendar in 1991, the street circuit located on the Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise, is a high speed, concrete-lined, thrill ride that was shortened for the new look event in 2010.

The temporary street circuit has created carnage in the past, particularly when drivers don’t show the patience that is required to come out unscathed. The race is 300km long on a circuit that’s 2.96km in length. Drivers complete 102 laps. The short track allows for better spectating, providing fans with great entertainment value. For 2021 the race will be 250km long.

Track Specs

Length: 2.96km
Direction: Anti-clockwise
Average Speed: 146km/h
Top Speed: 265km/h
Fastest Point: Approach to Turn 1
Slowest Point: Turn 4 and Turn 15

  • The Gold Coast 500 takes place on the Surfers Paradise Street Circuit with temporary safety barriers. Due to this, we recommend upgrading to a grandstand ticket or hospitality package to ensure you get the best track views
  • If you’re planning a special occasion or treating colleagues, you can’t go past a hospitality package. These give you access to an exclusive venue with gourmet food, premium drinks, entertainment, programs, TVs, indoor and outdoor seating and more. Inclusions vary per package
  • If you’re after an extra special weekend, try our track view rooms at the JW Marriott. While not the best place to watch the race from, being close to the track and seeing cars from above gives a unique perspective and will ensure you feel part of the action

Gold Coast

The glimmering Gold Coast is where high rise apartments meet the sea. It’s an iconic Australian holiday destination with a youthful spirit and startling beauty. Visitors will be amazed by vast stretches of white sand, pumping surf breaks, stunning sunsets and blissful weather. Surfers Paradise, in the heart of the Gold Coast, is home to malls, mega-clubs, fancy restaurants and laid-back bars; making the scene a tropical oasis by day and party paradise by night. Intrepid travellers need not venture far from Surfers Paradise into the subtropical hinterlands where adventure activities and natural beauty is aplenty.

December on the Gold Coast is summer, where average high temperatures are 28ºC and lows are 20ºC. Rain is expected on 9 days of the month and we don’t expect rain to hamper the race weekend. The general climate is tropical and warm at this time of year.
