DESCRIPTION

The Ashes dates back to 1882 where the term ‘Ashes’ was actualised after England lost to Australia for the first time on home soil in August, 1882. The next day, the Sporting Times published a mock obituary of English cricket, stating ‘The body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia.” The jovial concept caught the imagination of the sporting public and a few weeks later, an English team, captained by Hon Ivo Bligh departed for Australia vowing to return with ‘The Ashes,” while Australian captain WL Murdoch vowed to defend them. Ever since, Australia and England have contested for The Ashes Urn 69 times, usually every 2 years, with Australia and England victorious 32 times a piece (5 draws). 1st Test, Brisbane


The capital city of the Sunshine State is a dynamic, entertaining city ideal for the opening Test at the Gabba. With a capacity of 42,000, the Gabba is in the city fringe of Woolloongabba and is traditionally the host city which accommodates the hype and build up to that crucial first ball well.

3rd Test, Perth


Located on the beautiful Swan River, Perth is a modern city that emphasises easy-going, active lifestyles. Enjoy sunny weather and fantastic sights such as Cottesloe Beach, Kings Park, Fremantle, Swan Valley Wineries and Margaret River (post-Test recommended). The Test venue for Perth is yet to be decided and could be the new Perth Arena in Burswood where two of our hotels are located at the Crown Entertainment Complex.

4th Test, Melbourne


Melbourne is Australia’s cultural capital and home to the mighty MCG, a world class sporting venue and annual host of the iconic Boxing Day Test. Watch 90,000+ fans come alive as the first ball is bowled at the G. Free trams operate within the CBD and most hotels are an easy walk away.

5th Test, Sydney


Australia’s most iconic capital city with it’s stunning Harbour Bridge, Opera House and famous landmark sights will be the final round of the 2017-18 Ashes Series and a must for all cricket fans. The Sydney Cricket Ground with a capacity of only 46,00 will be full to the brim with an electric atmosphere for the 5th Test as 2018 gets underway.

Ticketing

Can I buy 2017 Ashes Tickets by themselves?

No, all Ashes Tickets must be purchased as part of our Official Ashes Packages containing accommodation and other services. Ticket only sales will be available from licensed brokers in due course.

Where do I get my tickets?

Your Ashes tickets will be issued with your travel documentation, which includes information to help you redeem the services you’ve booked, plus other useful event information and other applicable items. Travel documentation will be sent approximately 2 weeks before you travel, so you will have the most up to date information before you depart. Requesting documents before this time may not be possible due to ticket printing. We reserve the right to change ticket delivery methods closer to the event date.

How can I upgrade my Ashes Tickets?

For our Match Packages we include General Reserve tickets. You can upgrade these at anytime (subject to availability) to Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum tickets. See the relevant tabs for pricing.

How do you allocate tickets?

We allocate our Ashes tickets in booking date order, so the earlier you book the better your allocated seat from within the category you choose. We can accept seating requests but cannot guarantee they will be fulfilled.

How do I get to the stadium?

For each Test we have tried to select centrally located hotels within walking distance to each stadium. In some instances walking is not possible or advised and public transport or taxi/ubers is the best option. More transport details will be provided after booking and with travel documentation. If you have special needs please get in touch.

What happens if play is called off?

Should play be called off then Cricket Australia’s public refund policy will apply. See that policy here.

 

General

I have a group, can you help?

Yes.

We are group travel experts and have access to wholesale airfares, group rates, ticket blocks and other services which must be customised on an ad hoc basis for all groups. Simply contact a travel consultant to begin organising a custom built group Travel Package. Group Packages are available for companies, independent travel groups, schools, clubs and as incentives.

Can I book flights with you?

Yes.

We are an IATA Agency and issue our own flight tickets in-house. This means we have access to the best available fares and can book/quote your airfares at anytime, direct. Please ask us for a quote and we’ll happily add flights to any 2017 Ashes Package.

Are you an Official Travel Agent?

Events Worldwide Travel are a Licensed Travel Operator for the 2017-18 Ashes Series by Cricket Australia. We are able to sell guaranteed official Ashes Packages with tickets under license.

Can I book a hotel not on your list?

Yes.

We welcome customisations to any packages if it helps you get exactly what you want. Requesting a different hotel will change the price we can offer for that Package and all requested hotels are subject to availability at the time of booking.

Do I need Travel Insurance?

Yes.

We recommend purchasing Travel Insurance for every trip, big or small. Travel Insurance is there to cover you when the unexpected happens and things out of your control risk ruining your trip! We have policies through QBE and CHI available with a 15% rebate when booking with your Package.

How do I pay for my Package?

We accept credit cards (AMEX, VISA and Mastercard), direct bank transfers (EFT), cheque or you can pay online directly with your credit card. Fees may apply for credit cards.

Full payment information will be available with your confirmation letter and invoice.

  • Pricing is listed per person in Australian Dollars.
  • Pricing is subject to change at anytime without notice.
  • Availability is subject to change at anytime without notice.
  • Changes to bookings incur amendment fees per transaction plus any applicable fees from suppliers for changes.
  • Full payment is required to secure flights as an add on service.
  • Extra travel services may be subject to different payment requirements to be confirmed on quoting/booking.
  • Full cancellation applies.
  • There are no refunds or exchanges for unused services.
  • We highly recommend travel insurance and can provide a 15% discount on retail prices when booking a tour or package with CHI; ask a consultant for a quote while booking or at anytime.
  • In the event a Test match finishes earlier than 5 days, the Cricket Australia public refund policy will apply.

 

Booking Process

Book online using our booking form, by phoning 1300 788 666 or emailing res@events.com.au.

Once we receive your booking request we will confirm by email with a confirmation letter confirming your services and an invoice. If quoting for upgrades or extras not listed, we will email a written quote with terms and more information for you to confirm.

Payment Requirements

A 30% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 working days of confirmation to secure your Package. In addition to the deposit we require any ticket upgrades and additional services such as flights to be paid in full to confirm. Other services subject to varied payment terms to be advised on quoting/booking.

The final balance for all Packages is due by 10 September 2017.

Travel Documents

Containing flight e-tickets, transfer vouchers, merchandise vouchers, hotel vouchers and other applicable items will be sent at least 2 weeks before departure. Match tickets will be sent by registered post or courier at this time.

Payment Methods

Include direct bank transfer or credit card (fees apply for Visa and MasterCard 2% and American Express 3.3%).
