Paris enjoys mild and pleasant weather in late May and early June, making it an ideal time to visit. Daytime temperatures average between 18°C and 22°C (64°F to 72°F), while nighttime lows range from 11°C to 14°C (52°F to 57°F). Although there are occasional showers, with about 10 to 12 rainy days per month, these are typically light and short-lived. The city enjoys around 7 to 8 hours of sunshine per day, and humidity levels are comfortable. When packing, consider bringing layers such as long-sleeve shirts, a light sweater or jacket, and comfortable pants, along with a small umbrella or raincoat for the occasional rain. Comfortable shoes are essential for exploring the city’s many attractions. Late May to early June is a wonderful time to experience Paris, with its blooming gardens, outdoor cafes, and vibrant atmosphere.

1. The French Open Began on Grass: The inaugural French Open was held in 1891, exclusively for French club members and played on grass courts. It became an international Grand Slam event in 1925.
2. Stade Roland Garros Was Built for a Davis Cup Final: Constructed in 1928, Stade Roland Garros was specifically built to host the Davis Cup final between France and the United States. France won, and the venue has hosted the French Open ever since.
3. Clay Courts Composed of Red Brick Dust: Although often referred to as clay, the courts at Roland-Garros are made from crushed red brick layered over limestone, making it the slowest surface on the Grand Slam circuit.
4. Rafael Nadal’s Unparalleled Record: As of 2023, Rafael Nadal has won the French Open 14 times — more than any other player in history — with victories spanning from 2005 to 2022.
5. Record-Breaking Prize Money in 2025: The 2025 French Open offered a record €56.35 million in total prize money, with both the men’s and women’s singles champions earning €2.55 million each.
6. Highest Attendance in 2019: In 2019, Roland-Garros welcomed over 520,000 spectators during the tournament — the highest attendance on record.
7. Retractable Roof on Court Philippe-Chatrier: Completed in 2020, the retractable roof over Court Philippe-Chatrier consists of 11 trusses weighing 350 tons each and takes around 15 minutes to fully close.
8. Longest Match in Tournament History: The longest match ever played at Roland-Garros took place in 2004 between Fabrice Santoro and Arnaud Clément. It lasted 6 hours and 33 minutes across two days.
9. Youngest Champion: Monica Seles: In 1990, Monica Seles became the youngest-ever French Open champion, winning the title at just 16 years and 6 months old.
