The Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit is unlike most venues on the Formula 1 calendar. Laid out around a lakeside park just minutes from the Melbourne CBD, it offers a festival atmosphere that feels open and celebratory rather than confined. Grandstands line high-speed straights and technical corners, giving fans a rare proximity to the action across all four days. Tram services

Trams are the recommended way to travel from Melbourne CBD to the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit, with over 4,800 extra services running during race week.

Climate

March in Melbourne brings mild autumn conditions well suited to outdoor events. Days are typically warm, ranging from 20°C to 26°C (68°F to 79°F), with cooler evenings around 12°C to 16°C (54°F to 61°F). Sunshine is common, though Melbourne’s famously changeable weather means light showers are always possible, with average rainfall of around 40–50mm across the month.

Most grandstands at Albert Park are uncovered. Selected premium grandstand tickets offer overhead cover, though not full weather protection. Breezes around the park and the bay are frequent, so packing a light jacket and dressing in layers is recommended for race days.
