  • Director's introduction

The Masters is in a league of its own.

Experiencing The Masters isn’t just about tradition, history, or prestige. It’s the dream of a lifetime, made reality for a fortunate few. For travellers from Australia, the journey typically begins with a long-haul flight to the U.S., arriving in Atlanta. From there, it’s a scenic 2.5 hour drive to Augusta, Georgia, deep in the heart of the American South.

At first glance, Augusta National might not captivate you. Just 15 minutes from downtown Augusta, the club sits in a roadside suburb, surrounded by modest homes, diners, and motels. The only clues that something extraordinary is unfolding nearby are the steady stream of fans, John Daly’s RV, and the hum of private jets descending on the regional airport. The setting may feel unexpected — but once you step inside, everything changes.

On entering Augusta National’s gates, the energy is contagious. Fans walk the same hallowed fairways, all equal, all united by their love of the game. Only then do you truly understand why it’s worth the journey. This is where tradition, precision and sporting legacy converge, creating one of the most iconic experiences in world sport. The players feel it. The officials know it. And the fans, once they arrive, never forget it.

Whether you opt for one of our weekend packages or join our Masters Golf Tour with rounds at nearby courses, the Masters offers an experience like no other. Forget luxury hotels and VIP lounges, this is about walking the course, understanding the layout, and following your favourite players in their pursuit of the coveted Green Jacket.

At Events Travel, we’ve been helping fans experience the magic of the Masters for over 20 years. Our 2026 Masters packages offer direct access to official Masters tickets (Masters Badges), hand-picked hotels, curated extras including tee times, and personalised service — making it easy to plan your trip and enjoy expert support before, during and after your journey.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Augusta for an unforgettable Masters 2026 travel experience.

    • Mobile Phones: Mobile phones are not permitted on tournament days (Thursday–Sunday). If brought, they will be cloaked at the entrance. However, phones are allowed on Wednesday for the Par-3 Contest.
    • Chairs: Foldable chairs are allowed and can also be purchased at the Masters Shop. Many patrons label or personalise their chairs and place them on the course in the morning—it’s a long-standing tradition. You can leave your chair and return later; if someone is sitting in it, they’ll politely move when asked.
    • Seating: All grandstands are unreserved. Fans are free to come and go throughout the day.
    • Amen Corner: A must-visit viewing spot, Amen Corner offers scenic views of holes 11, 12 and 13—a prime position to watch key moments unfold.
    • Ticket Types: There are two main types of access:
      • Masters Tickets: Sold through the public ballot.
      • Masters Badges: Multi-day access for subscribed patrons.
      • Both provide the same entry and experience. If you win tickets via the ballot and already have a package, you can remove tickets from your booking and receive a price reduction.

    Masters traditions

The Masters is unlike any other golf tournament, steeped in history and tradition. Highlights include:

    • The Green Jacket: Awarded to the champion, symbolising membership at Augusta National. The winner keeps it for one year, then returns it to the club.
    • Crystal Awards: Earned for milestones such as a hole-in-one or lowest round of the day.
    • Pimento Cheese Sandwiches: A beloved, affordable staple on the menu.
    • Ceremonial Opening Drive: Tournament legends tee off to start the event.
    • The Big Oak Tree: A famous meeting spot for players, members, and media.
    • Champions Dinner: Held Tuesday night, hosted by the previous year’s winner who selects the menu.
    • Wednesday Par-3 Contest: A relaxed, family-friendly event with past and current players.
    • Masters Theme Song: The iconic piano tune “Augusta” plays during broadcasts.
    • Caddies in White Jumpsuits: A signature visual of the Masters experience.
    • Honorary Starters: Golfing legends open the tournament with the first drives.

    Lesser-known traditions

    • Azaleas and flowers are timed to bloom perfectly during Masters week.
    • Players often skim balls across the water on Hole 16 during practice rounds.
    • Children and families frequently join players for the Par-3 Contest.
    • Birdsong is played through discreet speakers to enhance the ambience.
    • Food and drinks are traditional and affordably priced.
    • Politeness and etiquette are highly valued—right down to the marshals in the bathrooms.
    • No advertising, corporate branding, or mobile phones on tournament days.

These customs create a respectful, nostalgic, and unforgettable atmosphere that makes the Masters one of the most cherished sporting events in the world.

  • Destination

    Augusta, Georgia

While Augusta, Georgia is not on the bucket-list of most visitors, there is actually quite a bit to see and do in the area. Augusta National may be the main drawcard for visitors during Masters week, however if you plan on arriving early or staying later there are some great things to see and do in Augusta including a river walk, museums and historic district. Outside of Augusta we recommend visiting Aiken and playing golf if you have time. Further afield we recommend visiting Charleston which is an old port city with cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages and pastel antebellum houses. It’s an elegant destination and well worth a visit with plenty of Southern charm. You can of course extend throughout the USA from Atlanta and the eastern seaboard with plenty of amazing cities and attractions likely on your bucket-list, all of which we can assist with.

    Climate

April in Augusta, Georgia is generally good weather with low to moderate rainfall. Expect daily highs of 73ºF-80ºF (23ºC-27ºC) and lows of 51ºF-58ºF (11ºC-14ºC). During Masters week generally there is only a day or two with some rain, but be prepared for all seasons. If you plan on queuing early to place a chair on the 18th Green or elsewhere it will likely be cold in the morning so bring gloves, a beanie or warm jacket. And remember to always pack sun protection.

Very convenient. Book everything together.

Booking through Events travel gave us the opportunity to purchase Australian Open tennis tickets prior to the general ticket sales. They gave us an extensive list of hotels to choose from. We booked tickets at Rod Laver arena which we were very happy with. We hope to use Events Travel again.
