  • Travel tips

    Staff tips:

    • Early mornings and the mountain’s elevation can bring a surprising chill, so layer up with warm clothes. As the sun climbs higher, temperatures rise, so pack a hat and sunscreen, especially if you’re planning to sit on an embankment or in an open-air grandstand. Remember, all grandstands except Grandstand 12 are exposed to the elements.
    • Long day ahead? Consider bringing a chair to relax and secure your spot on the numerous embankments around the track. No need to fear losing your space, just kick back and soak up the atmosphere.
    • For an elevated experience, consider an upgrade to a grandstand. However, remember that only Grandstand 12 offers covered seating, so keep the elements in mind when making your choice.
    • Impress your clients, colleagues, or indulge in a special treat for yourself – book a hospitality suite! Most suites offer prime views above the pits, with the exception of the Virgin Australia Paddock Club at Turn 1 and the Chase Club on the Rydges Hotel rooftop, showcasing the thrilling Conrod Straight.
    • You can bring food, drinks, chairs and more into the circuit but you cannot bring in any alcohol (unless you’re camping on Mount Panorama). We recommend to bring a refillable water bottle as there are plenty of re-fill stations around the circuit.

    Getting there:

    • Self-drive: If you’re taking a self-drive package, don’t worry about parking. Plenty of free options are available outside the circuit, and traffic usually flows smoothly.
    • Bathurst shuttle: Book our Bathurst Package staying at Littomore and hop on the convenient and affordable shuttle service to and from the circuit, with a stop at the hotel. It’s a quick ride and a fantastic way to avoid the hassle of finding parking.
    • Millthorpe coach: Book our tour from Millthorpe and enjoy comfortable coach transport directly to the circuit each day. The journey takes about 35 minutes, leaving you relaxed and ready to race into the excitement.
    • Orange self-drive: If Orange is your base, all packages are self-drive. Bring your own car or let us arrange a rental from Sydney Airport or CBD for ultimate convenience.

Bonus: Consider downloading the official Bathurst 1000 app for real-time race updates, schedules, track maps, and more. Make the most of your weekend and don’t miss a beat!

  • Destination

    Bathurst

Bathurst is the oldest inland settlement in Australia, located 200 km northwest of Sydney. Although the town has a rich Aboriginal history, it was officially declared a townsite in 1815. Its popularity and growth is thanks to the discovery of gold in Australia in the mid-1800s, and its central location meant it was used as a gateway for exploration and development of the New South Wales region. Now, the region is a large producer of agriculture including vegetables, honey, fruits, forestry and grapes. Enjoy discovering this historically rich town dating back 40,000 years when it was once Aboriginal land through to the settlement and colonial growth that makes it the town it is today; lined with heritage-listed buildings and colonial mansions.

    Climate

Bathurst has a temperate climate and sits 650 metres above sea level, which means average rainfall is higher in this region. In October, you can expect highs of 21°C and lows of 7°C. Pack a rain jacket and warm layers to ensure race-day comfort and consider bringing an umbrella or hat to ensure all bases are covered — long days out at Mount Panorama can mean fans experience all types of weather.
