The round traditionally runs across four days from Thursday to Sunday and features all 18 AFL clubs playing nine matches across a single weekend. Thursday — opening night
The round opens with a Thursday night match under lights, drawing the largest crowd of the opening evening and setting the tone for the weekend.
Friday — twilight and night football
Friday traditionally features two matches, including a twilight fixture and a Friday night blockbuster.
Saturday — full slate
Saturday is the busiest day of the round, with up to four matches scheduled across afternoon and evening timeslots, paired with food, wine and entertainment activations across the host city.
Sunday — closing matches
Sunday closes the round with two matches, typically an early-afternoon fixture followed by a late-afternoon clash to finish the weekend.
