  • Introduction

Join Events Travel for the 2025–26 NRMA Insurance Ashes Series — cricket’s greatest rivalry.

The Ashes is one of the most celebrated and storied rivalries in world sport, embodying over 140 years of cricketing history between Australia and England. Born in 1882 after Australia’s dramatic victory at The Oval, a satirical obituary declared that “English cricket had died” and its ashes would be taken to Australia. From this moment, a sporting icon was born, symbolised by the now-legendary Ashes urn.

Over the years, the Ashes has evolved into the ultimate Test series—a battle of skill, endurance, and national pride. It has produced unforgettable moments, nail-biting finishes, and cricketing heroes whose legacies stand the test of time: Bradman, Botham, Warne, Stokes, and many more. Following the controversies at Lord’s during the last series, the 2025–26 Ashes promises to be fiercely contested, with history, tradition, and bragging rights on the line.

This upcoming series will be unmissable, with Perth Stadium making its Ashes debut as the opening venue. The series will then move to iconic Australian stadiums: the Gabba in Brisbane, Adelaide Oval, the legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the Boxing Day Test, and the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) for the final Test. These world-class venues will once again play host to the cricketing drama as new chapters are written in Ashes history.

Our official Ashes packages are on sale now. Packages include Ashes tickets to all five Tests with a range of ticket categories on offer (Cat. E to Cat. A), hand-picked 4-star and 5-star hotels including daily breakfast, and premium apartment options. All packages come with access to the Official Ashes Function for each Test, promising to be a highlight for fans with food, drinks, and entertainment to kick off your Test match experience. Enhance your trip further with extra nights, sightseeing, transport and travel insurance. Whether you’re looking for a short Ashes experience with Day 1 and Day 2, or ready to sit back and enjoy a full Test, our expert team are here to ensure you have an unforgettable travel experience.

    Fast facts

    • Historic rivalry: The Ashes began in 1882 after Australia defeated England at The Oval, sparking a satirical obituary in a British newspaper declaring “the death of English cricket” and that its “body will be cremated, and the ashes taken to Australia.”
    • The trophy: The Ashes urn is only 11 cm tall and is believed to contain the ashes of a cricket bail, ball, or stump. It resides at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London and is rarely taken on tour.
    • Host rotation: The series alternates between England and Australia roughly every two years, with five Test matches played in each series.
    • Australia’s dominance: Australia holds the record for the longest winning streak, winning eight consecutive Ashes series between 1989 and 2003.
    • Legendary performances: Some of cricket’s greatest players have shaped Ashes history, including Don Bradman, who averaged 89.78 in Ashes Tests, and Ian Botham, whose heroics in the 1981 series earned it the name “Botham’s Ashes.”
