Hong Kong Sevens 2026 marks a milestone — the 50th anniversary of the world’s greatest rugby sevens festival — and we’re delighted to invite you to be part of this legendary occasion.

Rugby Sevens is pure energy, speed and spectacle, and nowhere captures that spirit better than Hong Kong. Across three exhilarating days, you’ll witness non-stop action as the world’s best players deliver dazzling tries, crunching tackles and relentless end-to-end play. With matches made up of two fast-paced halves, the drama never lets up — every moment counts, and every game is electric.

This year is especially significant. Fresh from the British & Irish Lions tour of Australia, the Wallabies’ emphatic win over South Africa, Rugby World Cup 2027 on the horizon and Rugby Sevens confirmed for LA 2028, the global game is thriving. There’s no better place to celebrate its golden era than in Hong Kong this April.

The tournament also begins a new chapter at the spectacular Kai Tak Sports Park. Fans will enjoy state-of-the-art facilities including Asia’s second-longest bar, ventilated seating for maximum comfort, enhanced hospitality and breathtaking views of Victoria Harbour from the iconic South Stand. History of the Hong Kong Sevens

The Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens is firmly established as one of the world’s premier rugby events — and one of the most popular annual sporting events in Asia. It attracts the world’s greatest players and thousands of fans from across the globe.

The tournament began in 1976 at the Hong Kong Football Club with just 12 teams and 3,000 spectators. Today, it has grown into a three-day rugby celebration featuring 40 teams, more than 120,000 fans and the largest prize purse on the World Rugby Sevens Series. It remains the place “Where the World Comes to Play.”

How to get to Kai Tak Sports Park from your hotel?

Full transfer details will be provided in your travel documents for your chosen hotel. The most common ways to reach Kai Tak Sports Park are:

Walking: 10–15 minutes from some hotels, up to 20–30 minutes from others where possible.

MTR: 20–30 minutes from many Kowloon and Hong Kong Island hotels; the most popular option for fans.

Taxi: Quick and convenient, usually 10–20 minutes depending on traffic from Kowloon, longer from Hong Kong Island.

From Hong Kong Island: 20–40 minutes by MTR or 20–30 minutes by ferry from North Point (note: return ferries close around 7:30pm, so train is advised for the return).

Most fans will use the MTR, with taxis and rideshare also widely available.

General Admission

Climate

In April, Hong Kong enjoys a mild and pleasant spring climate — one of the best times of year to visit. Average temperatures range from 20°C (68°F) in the evenings to 26°C (79°F) during the day. Humidity begins to rise but is not yet at the heavy levels of summer, and fresh breezes often keep conditions comfortable.

This makes April ideal for sightseeing, outdoor activities and enjoying the Hong Kong Sevens. Light clothing is usually sufficient, but a light jacket or sweater is recommended for cooler evenings, air-conditioned venues and ferry rides across the harbour.
