NRL Magic Round is, in my view, one of the best ideas rugby league has ever had. Every club, every fan base, one stadium, three days — there is nothing else like it on the calendar. Suncorp Stadium is the spiritual home of rugby league in this country, and watching 16 clubs come through the same dressing rooms across a single round gives the weekend a festival energy you do not get at any other fixture. After more than 30 years sending Australians to the biggest events in sport, this is one I genuinely look forward to every year.

What makes Magic Round work is the combination. Three days of back-to-back rugby league at Suncorp, a city built for a long weekend, and a tropical climate that turns the whole of Brisbane into an extension of the stadium. Between matches, the Howard Smith Wharves precinct, the riverside bars along South Bank and the rooftop pools across the CBD give travellers a proper reason to stay an extra night or two. Getting to Suncorp Stadium for NRL Magic Round 2027

Walking is the quickest and easiest way to reach Suncorp Stadium for NRL Magic Round 2027 from most Brisbane CBD and inner-city hotels. Suncorp Stadium sits in Milton, around a 20-minute walk from the CBD across the Riverside Walk and through Caxton Street. From hotels in South Bank or on the river side of the CBD, a short taxi or rideshare typically takes under 10 minutes outside peak match-day windows. Public transport options include the Milton train station, a 5-minute walk from the stadium, and dedicated event buses on game days.
