Few events capture the raw emotion, tribal loyalty and sheer intensity of State of Origin. Whether you stand with the Blues or the Maroons, the energy inside an Origin stadium is something every sports fan should experience at least once — and in 2027, that experience crosses the Tasman for the first time.
Game 2 at Eden Park is a genuine piece of rugby league history. Only once before has Origin been played outside Australia, and never in New Zealand. Auckland in June, a full house at one of the world’s great rugby grounds, and the fiercest rivalry in Australian sport with the shield potentially on the line — for travelling fans, this is the one. Add Sydney and Brisbane either side of it, and the 2027 series offers three distinct trips, each with its own city, stadium and atmosphere.
Events Travel has proudly been an Official Travel Agent for the NRL since 2012. Our State of Origin travel packages combine official match tickets with hand-picked 4-star and 5-star hotels in each host city, fully customisable with flights, transfers, sightseeing, extra nights and travel insurance, all arranged in-house by our expert team. We’ve built our reputation on getting the details right, series after series, for fans from across Australia and around the world.
I can’t wait to welcome you to Auckland — and to Sydney and Brisbane — for State of Origin 2027.

The official Eden Park seating map for State of Origin 2027 will be published here once available.
Eden Park sits in Kingsland, around 4 kilometres from Auckland’s city centre, and is one of the easiest major stadiums in the world to reach by public transport. Kingsland train station is directly opposite the ground — around 10 minutes from Waitematā (Britomart) station downtown, with high-frequency event services running before and after major matches. Buses run regularly along New North Road and Sandringham Road, and the walk from the city centre takes around 45 minutes through Ponsonby and Kingsland’s bar and restaurant strip. Rideshare and taxis operate to designated drop-off zones near the ground, though expect delays immediately after full time — most fans find the train the fastest way back to the city. Full transport and access details will be provided within your travel documents.
Auckland in June is a city that knows how to host a big event. New Zealand’s largest city wraps around two harbours, with the Sky Tower rising above a compact, walkable centre of waterfront restaurants, laneway bars and a food scene shaped by the Pacific. The Viaduct and Wynyard Quarter come alive on event weeks, and match week for the first Origin in New Zealand promises an atmosphere the city has been waiting decades to deliver.
Beyond the stadium, Auckland rewards a longer stay. Waiheke Island’s vineyards are a 40-minute ferry from downtown, the black-sand surf beaches of Piha sit under an hour west, and the winterless north — the Bay of Islands — is an easy extension. For travelling fans, Game 2 is the natural centrepiece of a wider New Zealand trip, and our team can arrange every leg in-house.
June is early winter in Auckland, with average daytime temperatures around 15°C (59°F) and evenings cooling to approximately 9°C (48°F). Rain is common at this time of year, so pack a waterproof layer for the match and for exploring the city. Eden Park’s grandstands are largely covered, and the winter chill only adds to the Origin atmosphere under lights.
Every journey is different. With more than 30 years of experience, our team can tailor your trip with flexible services and extras, designing the perfect itinerary and sourcing the best available rates and options using our experience and networks, tailored to your preferences and trip. Many guests choose to extend their trip beyond the event itself, combining their experience with a broader holiday, whether it’s a few extra days, a few weeks or a stopover.
