Whether you stand with the Blues or the Maroons, the energy inside an Origin stadium is something every sports fan should experience at least once, and in 2027 that experience crosses the Tasman for the first time.

2027 Ampol State of Origin Auckland is heading to Eden Park on Wednesday 16 June and will be a genuine piece of rugby league history. Only once before has Origin been played outside Australia, at Long Beach in 1987, and never in New Zealand. Auckland in June, a full house at one of the world’s great rugby grounds, a city that lives and breathes league, and the fiercest rivalry in Australian sport: for travelling fans, this is the one. A late evening kick-off leaves the whole day for the city, and with Games 1 and 3 back on Australian soil either side of it, the 2027 series offers three distinct trips, each with its own city, stadium and atmosphere.

2027 Ampol State of Origin Auckland at Eden Park has seven seating categories:

• Category F
• Category E
• Category D
• Category C
• Category B
• Category A
• Elite Experience

Our packages include official Category D tickets as standard, with Category C and Category A available as upgrades. Category B is sold only with NRL Travel Fan Lounge hospitality, and Elite Experience is sold with added extras. We do not offer Category E or F in our packages.

Public ticket prices for the 2027 Ampol State of Origin Series have not been released. 2027 Ampol State of Origin Auckland packages from Events Travel start at A$839 per person twin share for the 2-Night Express with a Category D seat and two nights at the Rendezvous Heritage Hotel Auckland including daily breakfast. Choosing your seat for 2027 Ampol State of Origin Auckland

Eden Park is a rectangular, purpose-built rugby stadium, so a Category D seat behind the goals and corners sits closer to the play than the same category at a large oval ground, and for many fans it is the value option. Category C is the equivalent of a try-zone corner seat. Category A is on the sideline and sells out first, so book early if sideline matters to you. Category B is a try-zone seat paired with NRL Travel Fan Lounge hospitality. Elite Experience is the top seat in the ground and is sold with added extras.

Tickets or a package?

If you live in Auckland or nearby, a travel package is probably not for you unless you want a night or two in the city; buy a ticket from the public sale. Travel packages are built for fans travelling to Auckland from elsewhere in New Zealand, Australia or further afield: two or more nights of accommodation with official tickets, the Shield photo opportunity, Sky Tower admission and merchandise in one booking, and a reserved seat confirmed before the public sale. Packages are secured with a 25% deposit, with the balance due 100 days before the match, so the trip is locked in early and paid for later. Flights, extra nights, experiences and travel insurance can be added to personalise your trip.

What hospitality is available?

For 2027 Ampol State of Origin Auckland at Eden Park we offer NRL Travel Fan Lounge hospitality paired with a Category B reserved seat (subject to availability on booking). This hospitality option is exclusively for NRL Travel guests and sits in the Grand Hall at Eden Park, with a reserved undercover Category B seat on Level 5.

Inside the lounge:

• Private food and beverage outlets with a cash bar, away from the crowds
• Private bathrooms
• State of Origin Shield photo opportunity
• An appearance from an NRL personality before kick-off
• In-lounge activations
• Easy access from the lounge to your seat

NRL Travel Fan Lounge suits fans who want somewhere to be before kick-off and at half time and is great for groups, entertaining or special occasions. Please note, NRL Travel Fan Lounge comes with Category B reserved seats and is not available with Category A or Elite Experience.

2027 Ampol State of Origin Auckland at Eden Park

Eden Park is located in Kingsland, about 3 km from the Auckland CBD, and has a capacity of 50,000 with a mixture of covered and open-air seating. It is a rectangular, purpose-built rugby ground with steep stands close to the field, so lower-priced categories sit nearer the play than at Australia’s large oval stadiums.

Kick-off and timings

2027 Ampol State of Origin Auckland kicks off in the evening of Wednesday 16 June 2027 and finishes towards midnight local time. Gate opening times and other entertainment will be announced closer to the match.

Getting to Auckland

Our 2-Night Express with Flights packages include return prime-time Air New Zealand flights from Sydney or Brisbane with hosted transfers between Auckland Airport and your hotel: out on Tuesday 15 June, home on Thursday 17 June, departing Auckland at 9.00am to Sydney and 9.20am to Brisbane. On the 2-Night Express and 3-Night Relax packages you can book your own flights, or ask our team to add them to suit your travel schedule.

Getting to Eden Park

Match-day transport is not included in packages. From the CBD, take a Western Line train from Waitematā (Britomart) Station to Kingsland: trains run every 10 to 20 minutes, the journey is about 20 minutes and the walk to the ground is 10 minutes. Taxis and rideshare are the alternative, and the same options get you back after the match.

Where to stay for 2027 Ampol State of Origin Auckland

What else should I do in Auckland?

With a later start on Wednesday evening, you will have a full day on Wednesday to experience Auckland and surrounds, including Viaduct Harbour, the Sky Tower and a ferry to Waiheke Island and its wineries. If you want more of Auckland, arrive on the Sunday or Monday; extra nights before or after are available on every package.
